Social-Emotional Learning Strategies and Financial Wellness

Description: How can social-emotional learning strategies help improve our students Financial Wellness? Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) involves how individuals effectively acquire and apply the skills to understand and manage emotions, achieve goals, show empathy, maintain positive relationships, and make sound decisions. This workshop will cover the five competencies of Social Emotional Learning intertwined into financial wellness and how we teach financial literacy using games by empowering your students to learn from their own experiences. How do we use Social Emotional Learning interactively to engage our students through a growth mindset? Teachers can incorporate using the stock market game to transverse the financial world while boosting self-confidence. Lastly, completing a financial personality assessment on "Your Money Personality" and recognizing your financial behavior and emotions of Money.

Financial literacy is a skill that does more than help students invest in their futures. Self-confidence in one area can flow into others, helping students build a stronger sense of self-awareness and a "growth mindset," as the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and The emotional Learning group has long noted.
